Conservation Campaigns

My wish for Byte Size Treasure is to create cute & fun products. But my ultimate goal is to educate people of all ages, foster love & appreciation, and emphasize the importance of conservation of animals and our planet. I specifically advocate for the protection of sharks, a collection of animals that are keystone species in the world's oceans.

A portion of my profits is donated towards conservation efforts. Occasionally, I also create items with a specific charity or non-profit organization in mind. To find out more about my conservation efforts, check out the list below of current and past charity items.

Campaign: australian brushfire relief

Record-breaking temperatures and months of severe drought fueled a series of massive bushfires across Australia in early 2020. It’s estimated over a billion animals lost their lives and it will have lasting effects on the ecosystem in Australia for years to come. Ecologists fear many endangered species will be driven to extinction.

A collective of artists teamed up to create art for charity to help raise money to protect the wildlife affected by the fires.

I created three enamel pin designs – featuring life unique to Australia. 100% of proceeds (after production costs) from the pins go to Wildlife Victoria to provide wildlife emergency response services!

Campaign: Pins for the Amazon Rainforest

The Amazon is the largest rainforest in the world and is vital to combating climate change.

A collective of over 30 artists have teamed up to create enamel pins for charity to help raise money to protect the Amazon Rainforest from the devastating fires ripping through the ecosystem.

I created three enamel pin designs - featuring life unique to the Amazon. 100% of proceeds (after production costs) from the pins go to Rainforest Trust to help buy land in the rainforest - every $2 from the campaign bought an acre of land!

Campaign: Mermaid Purses

Did you know some sharks lay eggs? Did you know that these egg cases are commonly referred to as “mermaids purses”?

Beginning in late 2018, we created transparent acrylic keychains of Mermaid Purses featuring 5 different shark species (Port Jackson, Zebra Shark, Horn Shark, Swell Shark, and Bullhead Shark). Added to the collection in 2019 was the Blonde Ray. When held up, you can see the shark embryo inside! Each of these keychains was professionally printed on recycled acrylic.

From Nov 2018 - May 2019, proceeds from the sale of these items were donated to the Shark Stewards to help save sharks from overfishing and the Shark Fin Trade.

From July 2019 onward, proceeds from these items were donated to Sharks4Kids, an outreach team that offer free education resources for parents and teachers to bring the love and knowledge of sharks to the next generation.

Shark Tooth Necklaces

For 2017 & 2018, we created acrylic necklaces featuring Great White Shark Teeth with various colored bows.

The proceeds from the sale of these items were donated to the World Wildlife Fund (for 2017) for their ocean conservation initiatives. And to the National Aquarium in Baltimore, MD (for 2018) for their conservation efforts and education programs.
